Silicone Release Agent

A release agent (also mold release agent, release coating, or mold release coating) is a chemical used to prevent other materials from bonding to surfaces. It can provide a solution in processes involving mold release, die-cast release, plastic release.

There are 2 kinds of Release Agent. 

  • Silicone to other material ( oil base )

  • Silicone to Silicone ( water base )

 

Do you need a release agent for silicone molds?

If you need to release silicone from itself, use our mold release for silicone. In a pinch, a thin film of petroleum jelly will provide a good release agent. Silicone RTV mold making rubber may soak into a porous surface and lock in place.
